Snore Guard
A snore guard is used to help eliminate the problem of snoring. The guard is worn each night and comfortably positions the lower jaw to increase air flow. By keeping your airway open and clear, you will not only stop snoring but get a much better night’s sleep.
TMJ / TMD
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction also known as TMD or TMJ Dysfunction. TMD is when a patient has pain and compromised movement of the jaw joint and the surrounding muscles. Dentists at Total Transformation Dental and Spa correct pain caused in the TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) with a custom-made mouthpiece that is specifically designed for each individual patient’s situation. Often the muscular discomfort can be treated with BOTOX injections either as an exclusive treatment recommendation or in association with the mouthpiece.
Sports Injury Prevention
According to the American Dental Association, athletes are 60 times more likely to experience damage to their teeth if not wearing a mouth guard during their sport. Although mouth guards are normally associated with contact sports, injuries have occurred in other areas of sports such as in exercise gyms and in non contact sports such as skating and gymnastics. In addition, use of custom made mouth guards have also been attributed to lowering the risk for concussions in a study that compared football players using custom made devices versus over the counter ones. Make sure to talk to the dentist about your family’s extracurricular activities.
Headache Therapy
Botox Injections: Botox can be used as a headache prevention/therapy by treating and retraining the muscles triggering your headaches. Botox is FDA approved for chronic migraine and headache therapy. Each patient is given a specific recommendation of dosage based on the individual needs and history of headaches. We follow our patients closely documenting all injections and dosages.
Trigger Point Injections: Also known as TPI, this procedure may be an option for treating your headache pain. TPI is a procedure used to treat knotted areas of the muscles that contain trigger points that can cause or prolong headaches. By addressing the individual knot/trigger point the muscle is released easing the pressure by the muscle causing or worsening the headache.
